The Thula Thula "PH" is a totally new concept in serious big game hunting footwear...specifically designed for cat-quiet final approach for Big Five dangerous game hunters. (Thula Thula means "Quietly...Quietly" in Zulu)
Unique is the fact that it has no rubber midsole or noisy lugged sole. Why? Lugged soles make noise. The Thula Thula "PH" by design, is superbly quiet and provides excellent feedback from the ground for delicate stalks. Early Thula Thula testers report they were more agile and aware of the ground which prevented inadvertent stick and rock-generated noise. Built on the famous Munson Army last, the 26 bones in the foot plus the muscles, joints and tendons can move naturally, simulating barefoot walking...allowing your foot to rock forward naturally. There is more room for the toes to move freely which improves balance. The special last design also snugs up the heel and the arch for a glove-like fit. Under foot is a 6.5 oz bull hide vamp, (the leather of the upper that wraps completely around the foot), a tough 10 oz. bull hide leather molded outer solde AND a 10 oz. bull hide slip sole between the molded sole and the vamp, plus a layer of Turtleskin Thorn Armor® to prevent thorn penetration. In total, there are 26.5 ounces of leather under foot. The end result is a soft walking boot that protects the foot from bruises and thorns while being superbly quiet. Super lightweight, tipping the scales at a scant 2.3 lbs. per pair. Padded cushion collarr, army lacing studs, pull straps, green canvas quarters and gussettes (tongue).
